Who I am
I am an independently licensed clinical social worker practicing privately in Washington, DC and Maryland. My focus is on helping my patients foster a better relationship with themselves and become more familiar with the conflicts that exist in their psychological system. I do this by building solid relationships with my patients, setting the stage for exploring struggles and concerns from all points of their life. I believe in uplifting and empowering people, while also providing the space for vulnerability and trepidation.
Issues I treat: depression, anxiety, grief and loss, low self-esteem, attention/concentration issues, relationship issues, psychosis, trauma, mood disturbances, anger, irritability.
Each treatment begins with a brief consultation to see if this relationship is a good fit for you; you would share your presenting needs and concerns, and I would provide some immediate feedback and recommendations for treatment. Should we agree that the relationship is a good fit, we would have an initial 60-minute evaluation where I would conduct an intake assessment to develop a fuller picture of who you are and what you are bringing to the therapy. We would then meet on a weekly basis for 50 minute sessions.
I am a participating provider in the following networks:
Aetna
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts
Carefirst Blue Cross Blue Shield
Carelon Behavioral Health
Cigna
Kaiser Permanente of the Mid Atlantic
Quest Behavioral Health
For those outside of the panels, appointments are considered out-of-network for insurance reimbursement. You will be provided with a billing statement, with diagnosis and procedure codes, that can be submitted to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
Background: My background is in community mental health and homelessness services, where I have worked in supporting people with serious mental illness in addressing structural and psychologically-based issues in their lives.
